First Ride Out with the TRF

Norfolk Trail Riders Fellowship. Joined up a couple of weeks ago. Got first service out the way and went out on 2 runs this weekend, both doing the Thetford Loop. I only did half of it because I was knackered!

A couple of stretches were quite deep sand. Seems the light weight bikes can whizz through it without too much difficulty but the big adventure bikes are a bit of a handful (mine was). Gas it and go seemed to be the motto of the day. So adopting the strategy I did just that. First day was a couple of incidents nearly involving an off but luckily managed to hold onto it. Second day was not so much an off in the sand (although still flipping hard work) but more of a test of the ABS. Came round a sandy bend, making nippy headway, and there was a gate blocking the track ! Sit down, straighten up and bang on the brakes big time. What a test of the bike that was, and it performed brilliantly. I'm here to tell the tale!

Day 1 - having a breather after the deep sand. 7 of us on this outing.

Here's a pic of day 2. Ian and myself just after the A11 crossing at the Picnic area near Thetford.
